Effective date: October 2, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Leonardo Da Vinci Academy of Arts and Sciences (“LDVA”, “we”, “us”) collects through ldva.on.ca (the “Site”), why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to answer your inquiries, arrange tours, and understand how families use our Site.
About this policy
LDVA is a school located at 901 Lawrence Avenue West, Toronto, Ontario M6A 1C3. We are responsible for the personal information we collect through the Site. This policy applies to the Site only. It does not cover information we collect in person, through enrolment, or after a family becomes part of the school, which is governed by the school’s own records and enrolment policies.
We handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for electronic marketing messages, Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
By using the Site, you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not submit personal information through the Site.
Information we collect
We collect information in three ways: information you give us, information collected automatically when you use the Site, and information passed to us by the third-party tools described below.
Information you give us. When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number, your child’s age or grade, and the content of your message. The form also contains a hidden anti-spam field (WP Armour, a “honeypot” tool) that real visitors never see. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t track you, and doesn’t send data to any outside service. It exists only so automated bots can be rejected. If you email or phone the school directly, we collect whatever you choose to share with us.
Tour bookings. When you book a tour through Calendly, you provide your name, email address, and any details you add to the booking form directly to Calendly. We receive those booking details so we can host your visit.
Information collected automatically. We use Google Analytics 4 to measure how the Site is used. It records, in aggregate and in pseudonymous form, which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive at the Site, approximate location (city or region level), device, browser and operating system type, and interactions such as clicks on tour-booking links, email and phone links, and map links. We use this to understand which pages lead families to contact us. We do not use analytics to identify individual visitors.
Cookies. Google Analytics and YouTube embeds set cookies, which are small files stored in your browser, but only if you accept them (see “Cookies and analytics choices” below). Our consent tool (WPConsent) stores your cookie choice in a cookie called “Cookie Preferences” so we don’t ask you again on every page. This cookie is essential and is set without consent. Our web host and security tools may also set technical cookies needed for the Site to work.
What we do not collect. We do not collect payment card information through the Site, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. The contact form asks for a child’s age or grade only so we can direct you to the right program; the form is meant to be completed by a parent or guardian.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- respond to questions and admissions inquiries you send through the form, email, or phone;
- arrange, confirm, and follow up on school tours;
- understand which pages and programs interest families, and improve the Site and its accessibility;
- keep the Site secure and prevent spam or misuse; and
- meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Your consent
We collect, use, and share personal information with your knowledge and consent. By submitting the contact form or booking a tour, you consent to our using the details you provide to respond to you and arrange your visit. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions, by contacting us (see “Contact us”). Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer respond to your inquiry.
If we send you marketing emails or newsletters, we will do so only with your express or implied consent as CASL permits, and every such message will identify LDVA and include a way to unsubscribe. Replying to an inquiry you started is not marketing.
Third-party services
The Site relies on a small number of outside services. Each handles information under its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to read them.
| Service | Provider | What it does on the Site | Information involved |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | Google LLC | Measures visits and clicks in aggregate | Pseudonymous identifiers, approximate location, device and browser details, pages viewed, clicks on booking, email, phone and map links |
| Calendly | Calendly LLC | Lets you book a school tour | Name, email address, and booking details you enter |
| Google Maps | Google LLC | Shows the school’s location and gives directions | IP address and map interactions when you view or click a map |
| YouTube (embedded videos) | Google LLC | Plays videos on the Site, only after you accept Marketing cookies | IP address, device and browser details, video interactions, cookies such as YSC and PREF |
| WPConsent | WPConsent (Awesome Motive) | Shows the cookie banner and records your choice | Your cookie choices and the date and time you made them |
These providers may store and process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it can be accessed by courts and authorities under local law. We do not control those practices.
Cookies and analytics choices
When you first visit the Site, a cookie banner lets you Accept All, Reject, or choose by category under Preferences. Statistics cookies (Google Analytics) and Marketing cookies (YouTube embeds) are set only if you accept them. Until then, Google Analytics and embedded videos are blocked. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie icon shown on every page, or by clearing cookies in your browser. The list under “Cookies we use” below shows each cookie, its purpose and how long it lasts.
You can also block Google Analytics across the web by installing Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or turn on your browser’s tracking-protection settings. Blocking cookies will not stop you from using the Site, though some features, such as embedded maps and tour booking, may work less smoothly.
Cookies we use
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit the Site. They help the Site work, show us how it is used, and play embedded videos. The table below lists each cookie we use, what it is for, and how long it stays on your device. It is generated by our consent tool and updates as our cookies change.
Sharing your information
We share personal information only with people who need it to serve you: LDVA staff handling admissions, and service providers that host the Site, deliver email, and provide the tools listed above. These providers may use the information only to perform services for us. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our students, staff, or Site. We do not sell or rent personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiry and tour-booking information only as long as needed to respond and manage the admissions process, and no longer than 24 months after our last contact unless you enrol or we are required to keep it. Your cookie choice is stored in your browser for 30 days, after which we ask again. Analytics data is retained for 2 months, according to our Google Analytics settings. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
Keeping it safe
We use reasonable safeguards, including secure (HTTPS) connections, access limits for staff, and reputable hosting and email providers. No system is completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive details, such as health or financial information, through the contact form.
Children’s information
The Site is intended for parents, guardians, and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you may withdraw consent as described above. We will respond within 30 days, as PIPEDA requires, and may need to verify your identity first. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Links to other sites
The Site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last changed. Material changes will be noted on the Site.
