Lower Elementary Montessori is LDVA’s Montessori Canada accredited program for Grades 1 through 3, a natural next step for our Casa Montessori and Scuola dell'Infanzia graduates. Aligned with Montessori principles and our “Thinking Like Leonardo” philosophy, the multi-age classroom lets students collaborate, mentor one another, and lead, while an individualized, student-centered approach meets each child at their own pace, needs, and interests.

The Ontario curriculum is delivered through engaging, hands-on Montessori materials that carry students from concrete understanding toward abstract thinking, across Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Geography, Art, and Religion, with specialty classes in Music, French, and Italian. Reading and creative writing happen daily, and analog-based learning, with limited screen use, keeps the focus on real materials and real thinking rather than a screen.

Beyond academics, students build the skills of goal-setting, time management, organization, and responsibility, actively engaging in research, planning, and project-based work of their own design. This is a developmental window when curiosity and imagination run highest, and the program is built to meet it, preparing confident, self-directed learners for a smooth transition into a more traditional Grade 4 program.
