Casa Montessori is LDVA’s Montessori Canada accredited classroom for children two and a half to six years old, licensed by the Ontario Ministry as a daycare. Montessori-trained educators observe each child and present materials in a thoughtfully prepared environment, introducing new lessons and materials as each child is ready. Children move from simple to complex work through structured, sequential lessons delivered one-on-one or in small groups. Uninterrupted work cycles give children real time to concentrate and follow their own pace.
The classroom is organized around four areas of Montessori work:
Practical Life
Builds independence, coordination, and responsibility.
Sensorial
Refines a child’s perception through sight, touch, sound, smell, and taste.
Language
Taught through phonics, sight words, conversation, storytelling, reading, and cursive writing.
Math
Introduced concretely and developed toward operations, fractions, decimals, and geometry.
Enriched studies in art, geography, history, and science round out the day, alongside specialist classes in music, French, and Italian.
Alongside academic work, children build the social skills of grace, courtesy, cooperation, and empathy, and the emotional groundwork of confidence, self-discipline, and a positive self-image, all while moving and playing outdoors daily. The mixed-age classroom lets older children mentor younger ones as they build habits of concentration and independence that carry them into Lower Elementary.
